At the same time, they offered worthwhile messages, modeled important character strengths, and left us oohing and aahing at their big-screen spectacle.  So what movies should you as a super parent, have in your arsenal this holiday season?

Born in China posterBorn in China, age 6+
This is a beautiful, and fascinating documentary — Venturing into the wilds of China, “Born in China” captures intimate moments with a panda and her growing cub, a young golden monkey who feels displaced by his baby sister, and a mother snow leopard struggling to raise her two cubs.

Coco Movie Poster
Coming Soon!

Coco, age 7+
“Coco” is the sprightly story of a young boy who wants to be a musician and somehow finds himself communing with talking skeletons in the land of the dead. Directed by Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3“) and veteran Pixar animator Adrian Molina, and drawing heavily on Mexican folklore and traditional designs, it has catchy music, a complex but comprehensible plot, and bits of domestic comedy and media satire says MMatt Seitz, movie critic.

The Lego Batman Movie PosterThe Lego Batman Movie, age 7+
The Lego Batman Movie offers a PG dollop of the same self-mocking humor that made Deadpool so successful.  It is peppered with funny and clever nonstop action, this big-screen Lego movie has strong takeaways about teamwork and humility, but you never feel hit over the head by them because you’re too busy marveling at the movie’s technical achievements and laughing at the snappy humor.

Beauty and the Beast, age 8+The Beauty and the Beast Poster

One upon a time, before the world of VHS and DVD’s Disney would carfully hold on to precious animated classics like Bambi or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs like revered jewels.  But now with the insurgence of streaming networks like Netflix and Hulu, Disney saw an opportunity for a 21st century makeover on an old classic. This gloriously old-fashioned musical with gee-whiz trappings is a dazzling beauty to behold and is anything but a beastly re-interpretation of a fairy tale as old as time.

Jane, age 8+Jane Poster

Jane Goodall is unequivocally a pioneer in her field, fearless, and epitomizes the values of perseverance, hard work, determination, curiosity, and compassion.  This family friendly movie showcases her renowned work on primatology, especially on her research about chimpanzees.

Kedi, age 8+Kedi Poster
A profile of an ancient city and its unique people, seen through the eyes of the most mysterious and beloved animal humans have ever known, the Cat.

The Red Turtle, age 8+The Red Turtle Poster
You are over taken by beauty in this animated film that rids itself free from dialog.  The red sea turtle emerges right about the time you have had enough of our troublesome hero that has washes ashore a desert island.  This movie warrants a smile and deepens those emotional ties towards life, and friendship without somehow feeling overdone.

Spider-Man: Homecoming PosterSpider-Man: Homecoming, age 10+
Marvel returns to the screen with everyone’s favorite web-slinging adolescent Spiderman.  This movie follows the life of Peter Parker, a high school student trying to live his life in Queens while coming to grips with his superpowers.  Giving way to awe-inspiring CGI and stunts, you won’t be sitting very long before you are injected with laughter from that gritty sense humor that Marvel delivers right at to your funny bone.

Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi Movie Poster
In theaters now

Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, age 10+
The epic middle installment of the current Star Wars trilogy Rey joins Luke Skywalker on an adventure with Leia, Finn and Poe that unlocks mysteries of the Force and secrets of the past.

Wonder, age 10+
Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.  This is a touching movie about not judging a book by its cover.

My Life as a Zucchini, age 11+

If you and your family are ready for big themes and stop motion animation with an aching melancholy story about childhood tragedy, abandonment and the malleable nature of family, My Life as a Zucchini tears at the heartstrings and brilliantly rewrites the rule book on children’s cinema.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, age 12+
Marvel’s favorite motley crew of reformed outlaws is back for another space adventure full of classic tunes, epic battles, and charming comedy. Things definitely get violent, but underlying the action are clear messages about teamwork, friendship, and unconditional chosen-family bonds.

Thor: Ragnarok, age 12+
It has lots of explosive action, but this is also the funniest movie to date about the hammer-wielding hero. Packed with wild, bold choices and tons of cinematic style, it deals with themes, including courage and perseverance.

But, if you have decided to stick around town, welcome to the Staycation party!

Rules for a Staycation

It’s still a vacation, even if you aren’t going anywhere, so to try to give yourself a break. Think about eliminating some (or all) of the following things from your usually hectic schedule:

  • cooking
  • cleaning
  • cell phone
  • alarm clock
  • house work
  • WORK (of any kind)
  • Laundry
  • Worrying (good luck!)

Now you have your DON’T list, let’s look at fun things TO DO around town.

Have Fun on a Staycation

  1. Go to the movies. Well, duh! Of course this is our number one fun thing to do!geocaching box on staycation
  2. Geocaching. Who doesn’t like a good treasure hunt? Don’t know what it is? Learn about Geocaching and then get out your GPS and go to it!
  3. Laser Tag. Get some friends together or another family and battle it out in the laser tag arena. Zap Zone in Delta Center and Spare Time in Frandor are two local locations for laser tag.
  4. Board Game Night. Have each family member pick their favorite game and take turns playing them. Or invite some other staycationers over and have an ultimate board game night!

  6. Try a new restaurant. Check out that new restaurant you’ve been meaning to try. (This helps with the NO COOKING rule!)bikeriding on a staycation
  7. Get the bikes out. This is a great time to pull the bikes out of the garage and get them all ready for the riding season. Wash ’em, pump up the tires, grease the chain, and take off! Maybe there is an ice cream parlor at the end of your ride–you never know!
  8. Take a hike. Spring is full of exciting things happening in nature. Get outside and breathe the fresh air and bring a camera. Check out a new trail or area.

The MOST Romantic Movies of All Time

romantic movies

Romantic movies remind us that happy endings do come true and love really does exists. Regardless of how you personally feel about the genre of romance movies or romantic comedies, there is no denying their popularity.

Love stories make our inner hopeless romantic smile.

There are four parts of the romantic ideal and a good romantic movie has at least one. A GREAT love story as all four:

  1. Love conquers all. Love overcomes all obstacles. This saying is found in the works of the ancient Roman poet Virgil.
  2. Idealization of your partner. Love can be blind and couples who focus on the positive qualities of their partners are generally happier.
  3. Soul mates. The person who is the missing piece to the puzzle that makes up you.
  4. Love at first sight. Does this happen? We like to think so.

So, what are the Top 10 Romantic Movies of all time? Well, if you google it you will come up with many, many different answers and lists.

The Notebook Movie PosterThe Notebook, Pretty Woman, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, and Love, Actually are on a lot of lists.

The website, Rotten Tomatoes ranks movies in different categories by critical reviews. Check out their list of Top 100 Romance Movies.

IMDb has their own list of Most Popular Romance Feature Films.

We’d love to hear what your favorite romantic movie is and why you love it so much.

Ly, an integrated video-based ethnic force application for which tens of millions of boys and girls around the world use, mainly directly to transmit 15-second clips of themselves lip-syncing directly to hit music. Sartorius has updates on getting that an around the world superstar, promises Jbeau Lewis, the very music agent on UTA who is compatible him, with his main Musical. Ly fans serving the source.

Musical. Ly is certainly many things: an integrated hit cellular app for which topped the very iOS App electric outlet for free chart on July 2015 simply to hasnt denied of an more appropriate 40 seeing that; an integrated scorching-hot startup via a $500 mil valuation (seeing that approximated by TechCrunch in-may) simply to during the period of 133 mil Musers around the world; in addition to a promotional application embraced by the music market place for its capability to translate song clips into channels simply to product sales. Simply to by having fifty percent of all european teenagers (depending on the companys estimate) by the app, Musical. Ly has become a bona fide ethnic sensation, actually inspiring pearl-clutching amongst olds, taken from parents fretting during the period of sexualized child years simply to over the internet predators directly to traditionalists pondering the very artistic validity of lip-syncing. That it might not be Elvis thrusting his hips or public Enemy speaking truth directly to anatomist but then again, would anyone whos not really a teenager admit that it whether Musical. Ly execute signify a new frontier on pop?

Wish to have any youthquake, a number of these savvy young adults arranged away the early tremors. It was frequent sensation word-of-mouth, is certainly precisely how Alex Hofmann, Musical. Lys 35-year-old leader of the us, teaches you the very apps jump taken from ten mil absolute human population a year ago directly to today, as soon as 13 mil are currently added a month. Teens on some other platforms would discover someone explain an integrated Musical. Ly video, wish to have that it, download the very app simply to ask their friends directly to get involved with that it.

Hofmann, who was raised on Germany simply to lesser his teeth on Teutonic application giant SAP, is certainly soft-spoken by having connect accent simply to deals lots of natural passion inside the Musers (seeing that Musical. Lys human population are currently accepted), who he promises are currently wish to have our boys and girls. a couple of days after the Sartorius was snapping his gum in the photo studio room, Hofmann sits in the companys as-yet-unfurnished wash Santa Monica digs. The very Shanghai-based startup, which one employs a hundred human population around the world, nothing but shifted its own european outpost taken from an integrated WeWork gap on san francisco bay area directly to right here the very hangar-like main gap would be painted Musical. Ly red before the span has gone out. In the previous fourteen days he is being directly to China, the very Philippines (amongst its own fastest-growing deals) simply to back again amongst. Musical. Ly debuted on August 2014, shortly after co-founder/co-CEO Alex Zhu, 37, who had been supposed to run out of money for his educational video producers, noted teenagers on a Silicon Valley commuter share with bobbing their heads directly to music in their earbuds seeing that shooting selfies simply to movies. Zhu today oversees things taken from Shanghai by having Luyu Yang, 35, and something co-founder/co-CEO. (Yang, wish to have Zhu, was born on China. )

As soon as he was brought onboard on 2015 simply to tasked by having evolving the very apps crowd, Hofmann arranged about what he calls community action, talking to 50 directly to a hundred Musers 24 hours. It was crucial to get to know them more appropriate, he promises, to attention to what excites them, simply to then: Lets nothing but execute some more of that.

Hofmann printed capabilities just like a leaderboard, brought up friend-finding, video Q&As, duets by having some other Musers simply to privilege-granting Best lover Forever badges. And also the apps convenience essential Musers will be able to sluggish arrive for more appropriate mouth-to-music comparable, simply to you can obtain findings galore boys and girls might use directly to seamlessly polish their has shown Musical. Ly had taken away as such if i simply to carefully that many parents were in use by surprise, simply to occasionally in use aback, by their childrens wash obsession. (according to critiques, the company, which one is all about sensation and still getting suggestions to make a profit, deals sadly directly to win seriously salary or modify an integrated salary. )

With techniques, Musical. Ly amounts the very pop-culture playing field: Justin Bieber came to fame on YouTube by singing simply to strumming guitar along directly to pop music. Successful Musers wish to have charisma, but they dont wish to have musical chops (or old-fashioned video-editing abilities, for the whole point). Before Musical. Ly, i actually wasnt perhaps one of the most outgoing, promises Sartorius, who started undertaking on musicals on 7 simply to was bullied for that reason. The app helped me personally goof away. Its wish to have nobody is certainly checking on aside from the camera.
